Need a break after a busy week? Start your relaxing weekend at Yoga in the Park at The Nature Zone in Lynchburg on September 30 at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for Lynchburg residents and $30 for non-Lynchburg residents. Organizers ask that you bring a yoga mat or towel and water. Yoga in the Park will go on through October 21.
The Harlem Renaissance Festival is October 1 at 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. It will be located in the Pierce Street Renaissance District between the 1300- 1400 blocks. This is Lynchburg's first festival of its kind and will have live music, a talent show, an art show and several community booths.
October is here and that means it's time to get your pumpkins ready for the season. Habitat for Humanity will have a pumpkin patch starting this Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. The pumpkin patch fundraiser will also have hay rides and face painting every day through the whole month of October.
The SunTrust Big Lick Blues Festival is October 1 in Elmwood Park in Roanoke. The event is 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. and will have live music all day, vendors and crafters. There will also be a rib-eating contest. Tickets are $24 in advance and $28 at the door. You can bring your own lawn chairs and blankets.
