The Virginia Wine and Garlic Festival is October 8-9 at Rebec Vineyards in Amherst County. The festival will have tastings from 6 local wineries and garlicky foods from several local vendors. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the gate if you want to do the wine tasting and includes a wine glass. It's $14 in advance and $20 at the gate for general admission. The festival starts Saturday, Oct. 8 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Halifax County Fair opens its gates Tuesday, Oct. 5 and will run until Saturday, Oct. 8. You can get in Tuesday for only $2 and the rest of the week for $6. The fair at South Boston will have concerts, bull riding and kids shows.
The Danville Community Market is holding the Second Annual Catfish and Crawdads Festival this Thursday, Oct. 5. For $35, you can eat fried catfish and crawdads in a classic "low country boil" as well as chicken tenders, cole slaw and corn muffins. The event will have live music and starts 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
If you feel like staying indoors, Lynchburg College and the Academy are collaborating to perform Babes in Arms, the musical. The performances start Thursday, Oct. 6 – Sunday, Oct. 9 and are $22 dollars for adults and $13 for students.
