Saturday, Oct. 15 is your last chance to go support Lynchburg's roller derby team. The Blackwater Rollers are playing their last bout at A.J. Skateworld in Appomattox. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. The bout starts at 7 p.m.
If you're feeling active, the Poplar Forest 5K Race is Saturday, Oct. 15 in Lynchburg. The course takes runners or walkers from the front of Jefferson's house through the Poplar Forest property and surrounding neighborhood. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and the Children's Fun Run will follow at 9:30 a.m. The children's run is 1 mile and kids 12 and younger can enter. Cost of the race is $20 if you register by Oct. 14. Registration on race day is $25, and registration for the Fun Run is $10. You can register online.
The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra presents Oktoberfest Saturday, Oct. 15 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Come out to the Academy of Fine Arts to enjoy German food, German beer and wine, an Oompah band, a dance contest and a German costume competition. Advance tickets are $30 for adults and $18 for students. Tickets for adults at the door are $40.
Show off your dance moves as you celebrate fall at the Seasons of Harvest Fall Dance in Danville. Dress up in autumn colors and dance to DJ Bob Turner's beats. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance is 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Ballou Recreation Center. Tickets are $9 per person or $6 if you go as a couple.
