Unbeaten Oilers Prepare For Home Opener

Posted: Updated:

The Tulsa Oilers are off to a 2-and-0 start and are looking forward to Friday's season opener at the BOK Center.

The Oilers opened their 20th season in the CHL last Friday with a 4-1 victory at Allen (TX), then followed it up a day later with a 3-0 shutout of the Texas Brahmas.

Through two contests, Tulsa goalie Ian Keserich has a CHL-best 63 saves and is second in the league with a .50 goals against average. On Monday, he was named the CHL Goalie of the Week for his terrific start.

The trio of forwards Patrik Levesque, Gary Steffes and Michael Beausoleil are tied for second in the league with four points. Levesque is tied for the CHL lead in goals, scoring a goal in each of the first two games.

This is the second straight season Tulsa has opened the season 2-0. The last 3-and-0 start came during the 2002-2003 season when the Oilers began with five straight victories, but missed the playoffs by a single point.

Friday's opponent is the long-time rival Wichita Thunder, which is also off to a 2-0 start after home victories over Rapid City and Allen. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. at the BOK Center.

The Oilers will also host Texas Saturday before returning to the road for a Sunday afternoon game at Texas.

You can get tickets to Friday and Saturday night's games online at www.tulsaoilers.com, at the BOK Center Box office or by calling (866) 7-BOK-CTR.
