Chatham, VA - The Pittsylvania County Public Library is serving as a write-in center for National Novel Writing Month.

Throughout November, they'll have snacks and a writing room available for anyone who wants to take part in the month's challenge, which is to write a 50,000 word novel from scratch before November 30.

Organizers say many famous authors were born from National Novel Writing month.

"I think it gets your creative juices flowing. You know maybe you are going to be the next great writer. Water for Elephants and The Night Circus, they were both started during National Writing Month, so you could be the next one," said Jennifer Motley with the Pittsylvania County Public Library.

Since it began in 1999, National Novel Writing Month has grown from 20 to more than 200,000 participants.
