Melinda Zosh is a reporter/video-journalist in the Lynchburg newsroom. She shoots her own video, edits, writes and everything else in between.
Writing stories and articles is something she's done for as long as she can remember. She spent her childhood with a pen and notebook by her side. Now, she's traded the pen for a video camera, tripod, and Microsoft Word!
Although Melinda grew up in a small town called Montrose, right in the middle of Binghamton, New York, and Scranton, Pennsylvania, she is no stranger to central Virginia. She is a 2011 graduate of Liberty University, but she's still learning about all the people, places and history of this beautiful area!
Melinda has also worked in Washington, D.C., where she completed several internships and took classes at Georgetown University. Her start in the broadcast world was at WTOP radio's sister station, Federal News Radio. She got to cover Senate and House hearings for the website. She even got to do a sit-down interview one of her favorite journalists, CBS news veteran Bob Schieffer!
But the start of her "TV career" was at WSET where she interned during the spring of her junior year. Then, she headed back North to gain more experience, interning at the ABC affiliate in Binghamton, NY, where she did it all. She produced, reported, shot some video and even anchored a few newscasts. Her favorite moment was an interview with Booboo Stewart, a teen werewolf in the Twilight Saga's Eclipse!
In her free time, Melinda likes to play with her pet cat, Coach. She also enjoys long distance runs, and she is hoping to beat her record of 10-miles (don't ask the time). She also loves history, especially touring battlefields like Gettysburg. Melinda is looking forward to meeting new people in the area, and she would love to hear from you.
