Nelson Co., VA - There's lots of ways to raise money for a good cause, but at Devil's Backbone Brewery in Nelson County, they're bouncing for bucks.
They're going to be bouncing all day Monday into Tuesday morning for 24 hours straight. People are spending a few dollars to hop in.
The money is going to the Nelson County Food Pantry to buy Thanksgiving turkeys.
"People will drive in, walk up to our hostess stand and say 'what the heck's going on out there?'" said Brian Coe, a sales representative.
They're taking turns jumping 15 or 30 minutes at a time with at least one person on the trampoline at all times for 24 hours.
"We didn't do a break last year," employee Lisa Davis said.
All that bouncing brought in enough money to buy Christmas hams for about 300 families.
"And we're not going to do a break this year," Davis said.
Because they say that they want just as many, if not more families to have Thanksgiving dinners.
"So many of the people in the community do actually go hungry," said Heidi Crandall, head of marketing and media.
So they had to start thinking outside the box to raise money. It's not too late to join in on all the fun. You can actually bounce on the trampoline any time Monday and even all through the night.
"It drives a shock factor when you say we're going to bounce for 24 hours," Coe said.
"No one wants to be here at one or two in the morning, but we do it," Davis said.
They started jumping at 6 a.m. Monday, and they won't stop until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Organizers say they've raised almost $1,900 so far.
If you missed out on all the fun, you can still donate money to help buy turkeys. Just call the Devil's Backbone Brewery at: 434-361-1001.
