Lynchburg, VA - Liberty University's Board of Trustees have amended the weapons policy to allow concealed firearms on campus parking lots, and some students are celebrating the new policy.
The amended policy will allow students to have a concealed weapon in their cars on campus.
Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. said this is something students have been asking for because they thought the old policy was very inconvenient.
"It's a good thing if God forbid anything happens like Virginia Tech there would be more than just our police officers now that would be able to deal with it. It would be staff and faculty who would be responsible permit carrier holders that would be able to deal with it," said Falwell Jr.
The old policy required students to leave their firearms at the Liberty University Police Department.
