Nonprofit Loses Turkeys Meant to Be Donated for Thanksgiving

Posted:

Nelson Co., VA – A freezer malfunction has caused the Nelson County Pantry to lose $2,000 worth of turkeys.

The Nelson County Pantry feeds hundreds of family a month, especially around the holidays, and now they're asking for your help.

Officials at the nonprofit say they got their annual Thanksgiving shipment of about 4,000 pounds of turkey last week.

But when they went in Friday morning to prepare everything for distribution, they found the freezer had broken and all the meat had thawed and rotted.

They say so far, they're OK for Thanksgiving, but they had to dig into their usual Christmas stock.

So it's next month they're really worried about now.

If you want to help, you can donate online by using PayPal or Mastercard.

You can also send donations to the Nelson County Pantry, PO Box 353, Lovingston, VA, 22949.
