Lynchburg, VA -Officials from Liberty University and Lynchburg held a ceremony to dedicate a new pedestrian bridge Tuesday morning.

The pedestrian bridge on Wards Road is a joint project between the city and the school. It completes phase one of improvements in the Wards Road area.

The goal is to make the area safer for pedestrians.

There's also a tunnel under the railroad tracks for LU students to use to get from campus.
