In Lynchburg, the Turkey Trot 5K and 3K fun walk kick off at 9 a.m. on 6th and Main Street in downtown. The Youth Mile race starts at 10 a.m. If you didn't register online, you can do that Nov. 23-24 from noon- 6 p.m.. Cost is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk and youth mile. Money from the race goes to help assist families in need.
The 5th Annual Abbott Nutrition Giblet Jog 5K in Altavista will also be on Thanksgiving Day. It starts at 8 a.m. in English Park and proceeds go to help revitalize Altavista's downtown. Registration is $20.
In Roanoke, it's the Stellar One Drumstick Dash will also be on Thanksgiving Day. The race begins at 9 a.m. in downtown. Registration is $30 if you register by Wednesday night, or $35 on Thursday. Proceeds from the dash go to the Rescue Mission.
On Saturday, Nov. 26, Amazement Square in Lynchburg will have a hands-on chemistry lesson. From noon to 2 p.m., your children can learn how to make your own root beer. Admission is $8 to the museum.
