New Historical Markers up in Downtown Lynchburg

Lynchburg,VA- Six new historical markers are up in Downtown Lynchburg this week. The new sites include the intersections of Main and Fifth Streets and on Court Street at Monument Terrace.

Each marker will explain the history of the nearby area and feature a map and photographs.

One of the surprises is a time capsule in one of monuments, but Museum Director Doug Harvey says you'll have check out the markers to find out where it is.

"Lynchburg is a very old city compared to many across the country going back to the mid 18th century, so we've got a lot of stories to tell," said Harvey.

Three more markers will be added to the Blackwater Creek Trail sometime next week.

The markers are a project of the Lynchburg Marketing Partnership and were produced by Virginia Civil War Trails.
