Celebrate the holidays in Lynchburg the next two Saturdays, December 9 and 16 in downtown. Your children can take free pictures with the Grinch at the Galleria on Main Street. You and your family can also go on a free carriage ride from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 10th and Main Street and also at the community market. Get more information on the Holiday Traditions celebration.

Wednesday, December 7 kicks off the Virginia Christmas Spectacular put on by Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg. For the 41st year, the musical called "Let There Be Light" will have feature a choir, full orchestra, 350 cast members, live animals and more. The show will be on Dec. 7-10 at 7 p.m., Dec. 10 -11 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary $8 to $15 depending on your seats.

In Roanoke, there's a holiday musical your whole family will enjoy. "Christmas Cookies" will be on stage at Roanoke's Children's Theater Dec. 7 – Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. and also Dec. 10-11 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children. The play will run Wednesdays through Sundays until December 23.

Come out to Dickens of a Christmas in downtown Roanoke Friday, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 to celebrate the holidays. The street festival will have carriage rides, chestnut roasting, magicians, live music and much more. Dec. 9 will be the Roanoke Christmas Parade starting at 6:30 p.m. at Elmwood Park.
