Danville, VA - She was murdered a week ago Friday, and now the 22-year-old's family is warning the community of Danville's violence saying they want a change.

Griffin's family says that violence has gotten so bad in Danville that they have learned to accept that shootings will happen regularly. They say it should never be acceptable for any community to have to deal with senseless violence.

"It's just violence everywhere you turn, it's just complete violence all around this town. We need to come together and start doing something about it," said Timothy Griffin, Jordan's father.

Timothy Griffin experienced something no parent should when his daughter and a mother of two Jordan Griffin was killed in a shooting last Friday.

"That was my baby. You just don't take my babies. I love my kids," said Timothy Griffin.

Now he wants his voice to be heard and his daughter's story told.

"I'm going to speak out. I am going to do everything I can. I'm going to speak out at several places," he said.

"Ninety, 95 % of people that I know get killed or have got killed," said Colby Watkins, Jordan's sister.

According to Danville police, murder rates in the city per capita are higher than that number. But that number hasn't fluctuated over the past few years.

"The numbers that we have speak for themselves. They are not up. The last few years they have maintained basically across the board. There is not a spike in homicides," said Lt. Scott Eanes from the Danville Police Department.

Still Jordan's family thinks violence has gone too far.

"As a community here in Danville we need to come together and do something about it. We need to really crack down on this stuff before your kid be next," said Timothy Griffin.

Two people have been arrested for Jordan Griffin's murder.

Her family has started a fund in her honor. If you want to donate money they have an account set up at Wells Fargo on Riverside. The account is called Jordan Griffin Memorial Benefit Fund and the account number is 740 419 1152.
