No. 3 OSU Battles, Beats No. 4 Stanford 41-38 In Overtime

What a memorable Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Early in Monday night's game, it looked as if the OSU offense was playing in quick sand.  The Stanford Cardinal jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and the Cowboys wouldn't wake up until midway through the second quarter.

From that point on, it was a back-and-forth affair.  Stanford had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Jordan Williamson missed a 35 yard field goal.

In the end, the Cowboys overcame adversity, winning the Fiesta Bowl 41-38 in overtime.

It looked as if the winning play was a Colton Chelf reception, but a review showed he was down on the one yard line.  That allowed Quinn Sharp to knock a 23 yard field goal through the uprights for the win.

WR Justin Blackmon was the stand-out in the BCS Bowl win.  The junior, expected to be heading to the NFL Draft along with Stanford QB Andrew Luck, caught eight balls for 186 yards and three scores.

QB Brandon Weeden completed 69 percent of his throws for 399 yards and three TD's.  That vaunted Stanford defense was able to shut down the OSU rushing attack.  Joseph Randle lead the way on the ground, but he ran for just 23 yards.  As a team, Oklahoma State rushed for just 13 yards.

Stanford QB Andrew Luck, considered by most to be a shoe-in for the first pick in April's NFL Draft, completed 27 of 31 for 347 yards and two scores.

The Cardinal rushing attack controlled much of the game.  Stepfan Taylor lead the way with 35 carries for 177 yards and two scores.  His performance, coupled with Jeremy Stewart, allowed Stanford to hold a 41:47 to 18:13 advantage in time of possession.

With the win, the Cowboys had what can only be described as a spectacular season.  The 'Pokes won its first-ever Big 12 championship, and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl was the program's debut in the BCS Bowls.
