Update: 9:14 p.m.: 

Buckingham Co., VA - Virginia State Police have identified the victims of Friday's deadly crash involving an ambulance and a cement mixer.

They say Timothy K. Southern, 21, of Waynesboro died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Heath P. Davis, a medical technician was riding in the back with patient, Howard L. Watson, 82, of Dillwyn. Both were flown to UVA Hospital in Charlottesville. Davis, 24, is listed in stable condition.

Watson died at the hospital later Friday.

John W. Dorman II, 29, of Charlottesville, was driving the cement mixer. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

Police say the ambulance was on the way from UVA Hospital in Charlottesville to a nursing home at the time of the wreck.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges will be filed.

Route 20 was re-opened by 5:15 p.m.

Update: 3:50 p.m.:

Buckingham Co., VA – Officials say the patient in the back of the ambulance involved in a crash on Route 20 died Friday afternoon. The ambulance driver died at the scene earlier. 

The medical technician who was also in the ambulance is being treated in the hospital. 

The cement-truck driver was not injured.

Buckingham Co., VA – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in an accident on Route 20 in Buckingham County Friday afternoon. 

A private ambulance and a cement-mixing truck collided near the intersection of Route 699 around 12:20 p.m. The driver of the ambulance died at the scene.

State police say a patient and a medical technician were riding in the back of the ambulance. Both were flown to UVA Hospital in Charlottesville with serious injuries.

Police officials say they do not have information available right now as to who was at fault in the accident.

The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is on the scene investigating the cause of the crash.

Route 20 is closed in both directions. 

An ABC 13 crew is on its way to the scene. We'll bring you updates as they become available.
