In Roanoke, January 12 kicks off the Kid's Winter Carnival at the Salem Civic Center. Your family can enjoy the carnival rides and tons of games Jan. 12- Jan. 16. Admission is free, and ride tickets are $1 each or you can get 24 tickets for $20. Each ride is about three to four tickets. Jan. 12 & 13: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., Jan. 14: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Jan. 15 & 16: noon – 6 p.m.
Also in Roanoke, Abbey Road LIVE! will be performing at the Kirk Avenue Musical Hall Jan. 14. The Beatles look-alike tribute band brings to life some of the Beatles' greatest hits. It'll be on at 8 p.m., and tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
The Ellington in Lynchburg will feature the band "Minister of Souls" Jan. 13 for its Ellington Fridays event. The Roanoke band plays classic soul, R&B, blues and funk. The band will be on at 6 p.m., but doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Come out to "Corks and Forks" Jan. 13 at the Danville Science Center. For $40, you can taste a variety of wines, beers and enjoy some food. There will also be an auction, and all proceeds will fund educational programs at the center. That's 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
