Campbell Co., VA - The Virginia Supreme Court says Campbell County should not have to pay millions of dollars to two property owners.
The court reversed the decision of a lower court in saying Claude and Virginia Royal are not owed $9 million for polluted groundwater that got into their property.
Back in 2002, the Evington couple said they found two contaminants in the groundwater on their land, which borders the county's old landfill.
In a five to two vote, the court said that the current law didn't apply to a gradual seepage of landfill gas into groundwater.
