New Budget for Schools May Include Teacher Furloughs

Pittsylvania County, VA. - The Pittsylvania County Schools new budget may include teacher furloughs.

Thursday night discussions were held at the budget committee meeting regarding ways to recover their $3.4 million deficit.

One of the proposals was extending two teacher workdays but without two extra days of pay.

Friday, officials told us that another consideration would be early retirements and then possibly replacing them with lower salaried teachers.

These are just proposals and are not final.
