They were bride and groom in fourth grade and then took their vows for real 70 years ago. One vow that can't be broken is"in sickness and in health." Margaret and Pershing were the bride and groom in a "Tom Thumb" wedding. But their love became very real during high school.
When he went on a tour of duty with the Navy, they wrote countess love letters, and got married when he came home. They had three children, but sadly their only daughter died of cancer in 2004. No parent should have to see their child die, and Margaret could not get over her depression.
It became so severe, that she is now in nursing home care. But every day, Pershing drives to see Margaret from morning to night. He still calls her "Babe" and is holding strong to another vow- "'Til death do us part."
