Danville, VA - Even though it's warm outside, Danville is hosting their 9th annual Ice Bowl Tournament Saturday at Ballou Park.
There will be two teams competing, and you can take part even if you've never played before.
Cost is $20 per person and an $5 for a second round. Each player will receive a disc as well as breakfast and lunch.
Disc golf is played very similar to ball golf. The object of the game is to get the disc into a "basket," which is a steel structure that has chains that hang down into a round basket to catch the disc. Long range, mid-range and putters also vary from turning left and right. There are a wide variety of throwing styles, but it is all up to the player. Professionals will be on hand on Saturday to help you out.
The Danville Ice Bowl is a disc golf tournament put on by Danville Parks, Recreation and Tourism, United Way and Danville Disc Golf Association, and all proceeds help the United Way.
Sweet Frog will give 25% of your purchase price to the United Way if you mention the Ice Bowl Saturday when you go into the Danville location.
The event is 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Ballou Park.
To register, call Danville Parks and Recreation at 434-799-5215 or visit the event's website.
