Charlottesville, VA – It's been an emotional first day of testimony in the George Huguely murder trial. The 24-year-old is charged with killing UVA lacrosse player Yeardley Love.

Now seven men and seven women will decide his fate.

The case proceeded with opening statements on Wednesday, and the prosecution called its first few witnesses. The very first witness was the mother of Yeardley Love, who openly wept when describing the morning she learned her daughter had died.

Yeardley's older sister, Lexi, also took the stand Wednesday, on the same day she celebrates her 28th birthday. Former UVA lacrosse teammate then spoke, who continuously fought back tears while recalling the few days leading up to Yeardley's death.

The prosecution says after Huguely found out Love had slept with someone else, he emailed saying he should have killed her.

So far, there has been no emotion shown by George Huguely. He has sat motionless between his two attorneys.

Huguely's defense team spoke for more than an hour telling jurors that this crime is nothing more than involuntary manslaughter because they say he had no intent to kill Love.

The defense team has been using trial tactics to make Huguely appear less menacing to the jury.

Huguely has worn the same simple khaki and sport coat combination all three days. The jacket is about two sizes too big, and officials say it's to make him appear smaller and less threatening.

While in court, his chair is also pushed as low as it can go so he looks to be about a foot shorter than his two attorneys. Huguely is about 6'2".
