Lynchburg, VA - A lot of people are sad to see a historic building come down, and many want a piece of it now.

Thursday is day two of demolition of the old historic building on Dunbar Drive in Lynchburg. It partially collapsed last week.

The building was once a hospital for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. The owners say there are a lot of people interested in buying the bricks and wood.

Leland Gibson is working on a deal to sell them.

"We want to recover as much of the demo cost as we can. We would love to set up a program where we could sell some of the materials, and maybe even donate some of overage of the proceeds to some local charities, maybe even a civil war museum here in Lynchburg," said Gibsob.

Gibson says the demolition could be completed in the next few days.
