Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg non-profit with a 36-year
history has had to call it quits.
Kaleidoscope started up in 1975 with the goal to help market
local events during the fall festival months.
If you paid a fee, Kaleidoscope would guarantee a certain amount of TV,
radio and other publicity.
But things have changed over the past few years with the
growth of social media and other web opportunities.
"In an age where you can market yourself or your event
for free or next to nothing, our relevance as a team just wasn't what it used
to be. So we're really grateful to have
36 years in the community, but it's time to close the chapter," said Board
of Directors President Johanna Calfee.
Kaleidoscope held an informative session last week with
event holders and gave them some tips on how to market their own events going
forward
