Lynchburg, VA - A local church is helping another in Haiti. Lynchburg's St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church is holding a big yard sale this weekend.
Community members donated all the items from decorations to books to baked goods.
Organizers call it "Hearts and Hands for Haiti" because all the money raised goes to the church's twin parish. Then the church in Haiti will use the money to keep its schools running.
"With all the terrible disasters that have happened in Haiti, this is a way where we can send direct support. There' s no middle man. We send it directly to the schools,"said Anne Nilles, coordinator for Social Ministry.
The earthquake there killed dozens more than a year ago.
The sale starts at 7 a.m. Saturday and goes from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sunday.
