Lynchburg, VA - Saturday, fire officials say a gas leak that shut down Lakeside drive late Friday night in to Saturday morning is now repaired.

The gas company Columbia Gas did the work after an underground gas line sprung a leak.

Fire officials are unsure of an official cause and how big the leak was, but suspect it was due to power pole construction nearby.

Crews wrapped up repairs around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Fire Department is dealing with a gas leak on Lakeside Drive, near Walden Pond Apartments.

Crews are on the scene and expect to be there throughout Friday night into Saturday morning.

They are also reducing the number of open lanes in the area, and are concerned about a gas buildup. They say to avoid Lakeside Drive if you can, and are urging people to not have open flames in the area, especially cigarettes.

We'll bring you updates as we get them.
