Danville - Today's high school Team of the Week is the G.W. girls swimming squad.
The Eagles completed a perfect undefeated regular season for the first time in school history just a few weeks back, before taking third in the district meet. State action is this Friday and Saturday at George Mason. Head coach Jennifer Henderson is in her third year as head coach at GW. She credits her swimmers for helping her build the program and post that undefeated regular season.
Jennifer Henderson, G.W. Swim Coach, said "I am still in shock and awe. But I am really happy for the girls, this is something that they really wanted to do from the beginning of the season."
Ali Stephens-Pickeral, G.W. Senior Swimmer, said "We established the goal at the beginning of the year that we wanted to be undefeated. And I know a lot of the people came to morning practices as well as afternoons to make sure that we achieved that goal."
