Lynchburg - Lynchburg College led ODAC leader and number 3 in the country Virginia Wesleyan for much of the game Wednesday night at L.C. The Hornets' Andrew Simmons even hit a shot from beyond midcourt at the end of regulation that could have won the game.
Unfortunately for Lynchburg, the Hornets had signaled for a timeout just before that final shot, so what would have been the winning shot was wiped off the board.
The Marlins then ran off 11 straight points in overtime, Wesleyan survived LC's upset bid 73-62. Virginia Wesleyan improved to 20-and-3 overall, 12-and-2 in the ODAC. Lynchburg falls to 14-and-10 overall, 8-and-7 in the ODAC.
Nate Campbell led LC's scoring with 15 points, Tucker Lucas added 12, Austin Chillemi 11.
Tre' Ford paced Wesleyan with 19, Chris Astorga chipped in 16, Donald Vaughn 13 and Art Crew 10.
