Florida State Rallies to Beat Hokies in the Final Seconds

Posted:

Tallahassee, FL - The Hokies blew a 15-point second half lead, and 20th-ranked Florida State nailed a three with two seconds left to beat Virginia Tech 48-47 Thursday night in Tallahassee.

Michael Snaer's hit the game-winner for the Seminoles, keeping Florida State in a first-place tie in the ACC.

Snaer, who had made only 3 of his 10 previous shots, hit the game-winner from nearly the identical spot he produced similar heroics in Florida State's 76-73 win at Duke on Jan. 21.

Ian Miller led Florida State (18-7, 9-2) with 11 points and Snaer had nine.

The Hokies led by nine with just over a minute left before the Seminoles hit two quick 3's to slice the margin.  Tech still led by two, 10 seconds left in the game, with two free throws.  But freshman Robert Brown, brought in the game to shoot the free throws because Jarell Eddie was injured on the foul, missed both free throws, leading to Snaer's last-second heroics for the Seminoles.

Erick Green led Virginia Tech with 18 points and was nearly fouled as he launched a last-second desperation shot that bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.  Tech falls to 14-and-12 overall, 3-and-8 in the ACC.
