Martinsville, VA - Students in Martinsville enjoyed a special learning experience Friday.
For the first time, the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Mobile Lab from the Institute in Danville visited Martinsville Middle School.
There were lots of hands on activities that are closely related to what students are already learning in the classroom.
Students took turns on exhibits like conducting energy to power light bulbs, using solar energy to power small toys, and running a vehicle on used vegetable oil.
"This is part of our NASA curriculum everything we do in the SEMAA lab is STEM related and Martinsville City Public Schools are emphasizing STEM," said Anne Stultz, SEMAA director and teacher.
Stultz says their lab is the only one of its kind in Virginia.
It's a lot of fun for the students and they intend on having the mobile lab visit once a year.
