Former 5th District Congressman Virgil Goode has announced his candidacy for president of the United States.
He says our country needs a balanced budget, and must secure its borders now.
Goode hopes to win the Constitution Party nomination.
He's facing several other candidates... but thinks his message will be heard.
"We need a balanced budget now, not 10 years down the road," Goode said in a phone interview. "We cannot, as a country, endure the tremendous spending of the Obama administration."
Goode said he expects to pull just as many votes from Democratic voters, as he will from Republicans, if he gets the nomination.
He says he'll fight to protect Social Security.
And he advocates a moratorium on Green Card admissions to the U.S., with some exceptions.
