Update 11 a.m.:
Even though most of that snow is starting to melt, public works crews are still hard at work Monday.
In Lynchburg, crews say primary and secondary roads are in good shape. They hope to have all residential streets plowed by the end of Monday.
VDOT officials hope to have all secondary roads treated by early Monday afternoon.
One challenge crews are facing is snow falling off of trees and power lines and back onto roadways even after they've been plowed because the snow is so heavy.
Officials say major interstates have been cleared and traffic there should be running smoothly. The biggest concern is heading into Monday night when snow is expected to refreeze.
VDOT and public works will have a few crews in overnight to treat those slick spots, but drivers should expect conditions to deteriorate again.
----------------------------
Lynchburg, VA- Major roads in our area are generally cleared of snow, but VDOT officials are urging drivers to be careful through Monday morning because of icy conditions.
Most secondary routes are snow or ice covered at this time.
VDOT will continue to plow and treat state-maintained roads as needed.
Any moisture left on the roads due to melting will likely refreeze overnight and into the early hours of Tuesday.
