Henry Co., VA -- Thirty new jobs will be coming to the Southside as a business expands into Henry County. Gov. Bob McDonnell made the announcement Monday, and many people think this is just what the Martinsville-Henry County economy needs.

Laminate Technologies, or LamTech, has locations in three other states, and they picked Virginia to home their fourth location. LamTech manufacturers customized laminate panels and fabricated components for kitchen cabinet manufactures. They will invest $2 million in the Henry County operation and plan to start hiring in March.

LamTech hopes to start their operations in limited production by this April. They say that even through the tough economy, they still have been successful, so they hope this new location will expand to 70 jobs in the next 5 years.

"The attitude is whatever it takes is LamTech's motto. And that is the kind of skill set that we are looking for. First they have to have the attitude to want to work and want to be a productive member of the company," says Fred Zoeller, president and CEO of Laminate Technologies.

"A job is a job. It gives someone money in their family coffers to put food on their table and a place to go to work every day," said Mary Rae Carter, deputy secretary of Commerce and Trade for Rural Economic Development.

LamTech plans to pay employees starting at $11 an hour. They will be accepting applications through the unemployment office.
