Lynchburg, VA - Sunday's snowfall left many cars in ditches and caused some stress for drivers, but road conditions Monday afternoon are looking great around the Lynchburg area.
City crews were busy through the night and Monday morning plowing roads as well as laying melt.
VDOT crews will be out on the roads again Monday night treating those slick spots, but they're urging drivers to be cautious especially in shaded areas and on bridges and overpasses.
"We don't want people to be complacent. There is going to be ice in some places, that's just the way it is with this melt. People need to be cautious. They need to allow extra time. They need to drive slowly and just be aware that there is going to be a possibility of icing out there," said Paula Jones with VDOT.
Some people are also still without power. According to Appalachian Power spokesperson Todd Burns, at last check around 3:30 p.m., a little more than 100 people were without power in Lynchburg.
The largest areas still being impacted in Lynchburg are the Elm Street and Main Street Intersection and Lawyers Road.
Burns says new outages are happening Monday because as snow melts off the trees, ones that are bent down snap back up and can hit power lines.
Residents at Birchwood Apartments in Lynchburg say they lost power around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. They say they got their power back around noon Monday.
"The little kids were scared because basically they couldn't see anything. It was so black you couldn't see your hand in front of your face," said Carlotta Jeter, a resident.
We'll have updates on outages in our area on ABC 13 News at 11 p.m.
