Goode, VA - An intersection in Goode may be receiving a safety face lift soon. VDOT is using federal money to improve what they call Spot Safety Locations.
In Bedford County, that's this intersection at Route 221 and Goode Station Road.
V-DOT conducted a three year safety study at that intersection and found there were eight collisions, one of which was fatal.
Tuesday night VDOT invited residents to view the proposed changes. And while all in attendance agree something needs to be done, most say the current plans won't help.
"One of the main things is they need to lower the speed limit to 45 miles per hour," said Bill Busch, a property owner.
"I think it reduces some risks but it doesn't reduce the ones that are cause a person to be severely injured or killed," said Mark Delahunt, a Goode resident.
A few of the proposed changes include widening the road to add turning lanes onto Goode Station Road. The project would also add a raised median to ensure drivers use those turn lanes.
VDOT says they will continue to seek feedback from the public.
