Jefferson Forest Wins BUDS Campaign

Posted:

Forest, VA - For the second year in a row one area high school is being recognized for its mission against drunk driving.

Jefferson Forest High School won first place for their buckle up, drive sober or BUDS campaign.
The group focuses on warning their fellow students about the dangers of texting while driving and drinking and driving.

At the awards ceremony at J.F. Tuesday night, several students spoke about friends they lost in fatal car accidents, and urged others to be safe behind the wheel.

"The goal is just to keep everybody safe, I would like to come back to our 10 year reunion and see every single person still alive, that's our main goal, " said Bryan Miller, president of J.F. YOVASO (Youth of Virginia Speak Out.)

The Liberty High School YOVASO group won second place in the Large School Division. YOVASO has groups all over the state.
