Martinsville, VA -- The Martinsville-Henry County SPCA is seeking funds to continue a program organizers started with the pound two years ago.

While the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA is a no-kill facility, the pound is not, so the SPCA works with the pound to increase their hours and get more animals adopted.

The euthanasia rate has dropped 20 % since the program started, but the costs for adoption is expensive. The SPCA has asked county supervisors for $75,000, half of what they need, but they were turned down.

"We are all nervous, we are all concerned, we all are way invested in saving those animals. We didn't know the program would be so successful and now that it is, it's just something we don't want to let go of," said Leslie Hervey, executive director of Martinsville-Henry County SPCA.

They are asking that you call your county supervisors and request they support this program.
The SPCA is having a Mutt Strut on April 14 to help with funding.

The Mutt Strut will be at 11 a.m. at the Martinsville Speedway.
