Halifax, VA - Hunters in Halifax County will now be allowed to hunt from ground level with a large caliber rifle.
For years, shooting a weapon greater than 22 caliber was restricted to elevated platforms. But with a rapidly growing coyote population, the board of supervisors has voted to amend that restriction.
They voted unanimously at Monday night's meeting to amend the current law. Supervisors have cited the continued growth of the coyote population as a danger to local farmers.
