With two bands and two plays this weekend is all about the great performances on stage.
In Lynchburg, the LoCash Cowboys will perform at Phase 2 on Saturday, April 7. The band mixes country music with classic soul and will get you on your feet. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15 at the door.
The Ellington will host Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers. The blues singer and guitarist will be on stage at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Also in Lynchburg –Opera on the James will perform "The Music Shop" on Saturday. The 45-minute one-act opera is set in Russia. It's about a man who's trying to figure out a title of an opera song he's supposed to buy his wife, an opera singer who will sing that song for the Czar the next day. But he can't remember the title, and the clerk and store owner sing, hum and dance every song they can think of until they find the song. The play is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and it's free.
And this is the last weekend you can watch "The Velveteen Rabbit" by the Roanoke Children's Theatre. The musical is about the toy rabbit that earns the love of a boy and magically springs to life. It'll be on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children.
