Lynchburg - Opening night is Friday night for the Lynchburg Hillcats, the first night of a six-game homestand. Potomac is in the Hill City for the first three this weekend.
This year's Opening Day roster features eight Top-30 prospects from the Braves organization, including shortstop Nick Ahmed who played in Danville last year. The Hillcats also have nine players who spent at least a portion of last season in Lynchburg, including righthander Andrew Wilson, a one-time Liberty Flame.
Andrew Wilson, RELIEF PITCHER (2.70 ERA LAST YEAR), said "With us older guys returning we can help those young guys out and help them develop into better players. And hopefully we can jell as a team and win some ballgames right off the bat."
Nick Ahmed, HILLCATS SHORTSTOP ('11 2ND-ROUND PICK), said "I think of myself as a defensive shortstop, play the game well from the defensive side. But I made a lot of improvements offensively as well, so hopefully I'm gonna be a good balanced player for the team this year."
