Danville, VA- The Bridge to Bridge 5K Run/Walk was held Saturday along Danville's scenic Riverwalk Trails.
This marks the 3rd year for the fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting The Danville Cancer Association.
Over 500 participants showed up and so far they have already surpassed last year's total of $42,000.
We caught up with a coordinator who told us a bit about their organization.
"Anyone that's been touched by any type of cancer that needs assistance, some people have insurance-some people don't-some people have insurance that does not cover all the expenses and that's what Danville Cancer association does, it assists patients that's been touched by cancer so it's a great way to give back to our community," said Karen Johnston, Race Director
Saturday's events also included a children's fun run and a silent auction.
