Charlottesville - The 23rd-ranked Virginia baseball team finished off a three-game ACC series sweep of Wake Forest with an 11-2 victory Monday night at Davenport Field. Virginia improves to 22-10-and-1 with the win and 9-and-6 in the ACC. It's Virginia's 14th-straight home win.
Freshman Nate Irving tripled and drove in four runs for UVa on the night, the Cavs collecting 11 hits. Virginia relief pitcher Kyle Crockett pitched four scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, to earn the win and improve to 3-and-2 on the season. Justin Thompson, former Tunstall standout, pitched the final 1.2 innings to notch his sixth save.
Virginia continues its nine-game homestand at 6 p.m. Wednesday when it plays host to George Washington.
