Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg City Council elections are right around the corner on May 1, and Monday night voters had the chance to hear from a few of the candidates vying for their vote.

The Lynchburg Voters League hosted a candidate forum at Court Street Baptist Church. More than 75 people turned out to hear from the candidates. They discussed a variety of topics, from taxes to GLTC and the city's education.

Danny McCain, the president of Lynchburg Voters League, says it's important for voters to hear from the candidates.

"I hope this will give them a scene of direction and give an idea of what each of them are thinking the best direction the city should take at this point," he said.

There will be two additional candidate forums later this week.
