Lynchburg, VA - A house fire shut down part of Langhorne Road for a short time Wednesday.
Police detoured traffic between Memorial and Park Avenues while firefighters fought back the flames.
Fire officials say the fire was started by a child who was playing with matches or a lighter in a bedroom closet.
The call came in around 4:45 p.m. to the 2900 block of Langhorne Road.
"I looked over and I saw some smoke coming up and it looked pretty thick. Then I heard some sirens so I decided to come here and see what was going on," said Sean Gowen, a witness.
There were no injuries, and the damage is estimated at $40,000.
The Red Cross is helping the family of six.
