5th District Congressional Candidate Stops in Area

Moneta, VA - A Democratic candidate for Virginia's 5th congressional district made a stop in Moneta Thursday.

Retired Brigadier General John Douglass held a Town Hall meeting at a Smith Mountain Lake home.

Douglass spoke for a bit then took some questions. Topics ranged from education to oil prices and bringing our troops home from Afghanistan.

Douglass says he will help cut through the partisan divide that exists in Congress.

"I think we have to many people in congress who put their parties before the United States of America," said Douglass.

Douglass is competing against Peyton Williams for the Democratic nomination. The winner will face Republican incumbent Robert Hurt in November.
