Danville, VA- Twice a year Regional One EMS hosts a child safety seat check in Danville.
Volunteers donate their time to inform parents exactly how a child should be secured in safety seats.
Officials say that even though you may think your child is old enough to ride without a safety seat, they still may not be buckled in correctly.
On Saturday they set up outside of Kid's Stuff Consignment Boutique, where they could speak with and educate parents.
"This area of the state, Pittsylvania County, Henry county area are the lowest per car seat usage in the state of VA so that's why we are kind of doing these programs to add awareness," said Kelley Thornton, Deputy Director of Regional One.
The state of Virginia will also supply low income families with a free car seat after completing a brief training session at their headquarters.
