Saturday's storm system that killed five people and injured more than twenty people in and around Woodward, Oklahoma, moved into Kansas Saturday night.

The storm system moved through Harper and Sumner Counties before hitting Sedgwick County after 10:00 p.m. Saturday.  Sedgwick County is home to Wichita, Kansas' largest city.

A tornado on the ground reportedly damaged McConnell Air Force Base and the Spirit AeroSystems and Boeing plants in the Wichita area.

Wichita police were encouraging drivers on Sunday to stay away from the southeast part of the city.  Officers report that sightseers are making the clean-up effort more difficult.

Authorities also warned of downed power lines and poles in that area.

Preliminary damage estimates for Sedgwick County were $283 million.

No one was seriously hurt when the tornado hit Sedgwick County.

Sedgwick County officials said at least three homes in Oaklawn were destroyed, and dozens more were damaged.

One of the hardest-hit areas was the Pinaire Mobile Home Park, where approximately 100 mobile homes were damaged.

Sister station KAKE in Wichita provided KTUL.com with pictures to the right.

"God was merciful," said Kansas Governor Sam Brownback in an interview with CNN.  Brownback believed the damage could have been far worse.

Wichita's surrounding county was declared a disaster area.
