Campbell Co., VA – There was a very fitting tribute Monday for a Brookville High School student who passed away last week.

Larbie Mensah, 17, of Evington died at UVA Medical Center after complaining of a headache.

Monday students and staff were back from Spring Break and wore Converse shoes in his memory. Friends say Mensah was known for wearing them.

A good part of the student body, as well as some teachers, had them on.

"Some of the people wearing them didn't even really know him that well, so he made such an impact on everyone," said Tim Butler, a good friend.

"It's good to see all the support because so many people are wearing them that barely knew him and just saw him in the hallways," said Julia Hartlage, a friend.

Mensah's exact cause of death has not been released. His funeral was this past Saturday.
