Lexington, VA - Officials at the Virginia Military Institute say a clerical error caused the grade point averages for all cadets to be mailed out to the entire Class of 2012.
The mistake happened when the senior class president was sent information he was supposed to forward to classmates regarding graduation.
The problem is administration accidentally also sent the cadet the private information, which was then inadvertently sent to the other cadets.
"It should not have been released. We regret that error but it was very much an unintentional error and it's really a clerical over site," said Col. Stewart MacInnis, a spokesperson.
MacInnis says more than anything, the mistake is embarrassing and they are working to ensure it is never repeated.
