Salem - Lynchburg rallied for four runs in the seventh to take the lead, and the Hillcats held on to beat Salem 11-9 and avoid a three-game sweep by the Red Sox.
Lynchburg trailed 7-4 until the fifth when Matt Weaver hit a solo homer, then later in the frame Evan Gattis blasted a two-run shot to knot the score at 7. Salem retook the lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth to go up 9-7. Then the Hillcats erupted for four in the seventh to take the lead, they would hold it the rest of the way. The Hillcats begin a four-game home series with Frederick Thursday night.
